You're in good company...

facility management

The team commercial premises across Manchester call when something needs sorting properly.

We're a facility management and maintenance team based in Manchester city centre, working with shops, restaurants, bars, offices and public buildings across the city and the surrounding areas. Shop fit-outs, commercial electrics, plumbing, joinery, AV and display installs, or just the general upkeep that keeps a building looking the part — one team, fully insured, and set up to respond the same day.

From a single faulty light in a stockroom to a full fit-out ahead of opening day.

Why facilities managers keep our number

  • Fully insured across every trade we send on site, with documentation available for your compliance files

  • Same-day response for most commercial call-outs across Manchester and the surrounding boroughs

  • Emergency line for anything that threatens trading hours, health and safety, or security

  • One point of contact across plumbing, electrics, joinery, AV, display and general maintenance, instead of juggling separate contractors

Leak above the till, power out before service, a broken shopfront overnight? That's an emergency call, not a Monday job. Emergency line: 07377 434555

Everything a commercial building needs, under one roof

Most of our commercial clients started by calling The Handyman Company for one thing and kept us on for everything else, simply because it's easier to have one team who already know the building. Here's the range we cover day to day.

Shop fit-outs

New unit, rebrand, or a refresh between leases. We handle the trades side of a fit-out from first fix through to the finishing touches, working to your timeline and, where it matters, around your opening date.

  • First and second fix electrics and plumbing

  • Partitioning, flooring prep, and joinery

  • Coordination with your other contractors and landlord requirements

Commercial electrical

From a socket that's stopped working on the shop floor to full rewiring of a unit before it opens, plus the ongoing compliance work commercial buildings need.

  • Fault finding, rewiring, and consumer unit upgrades

  • Emergency lighting and fire alarm testing

  • PAT testing and periodic inspection reports (EICR)

Plumbing

Kitchens, staff washrooms, customer toilets, and anything feeding them. Restaurants and bars in particular can't afford a plumbing problem to sit unresolved for long, so this is usually treated as urgent.

  • Leak detection and repair

  • Washroom and kitchen plumbing

  • Water pressure and drainage issues

Joinery

Counters, shelving, partitioning, and the general carpentry that goes into making a commercial space actually work for the people using it.

  • Bespoke counters, shelving, and fixtures

  • Doors, frames, and partitioning

  • Repairs to existing joinery and fittings

AV & display installations

Screens, sound systems, and digital menu boards for restaurants and bars, plus AV setups for offices and public spaces. We handle the mounting, cabling, and getting everything actually working, not just hanging on a wall.

  • TV and screen mounting for bars, restaurants, and retail

  • Sound and background music systems

  • Digital menu boards and signage

Custom window branding

Vinyl graphics, frosting, and branded window displays that give a unit its street presence, fitted cleanly and without the bubbling or peeling that comes from a rushed job.

  • Vinyl signage and window graphics

  • Frosted and privacy film

  • Seasonal or promotional display changes

General upkeep

The ongoing, unglamorous work that keeps a building presentable and compliant between the bigger jobs, usually arranged as a rolling schedule rather than a one-off visit.

  • Scheduled maintenance visits

  • Minor repairs before they become major ones

  • Health and safety compliance checks

The kinds of buildings we're already in every week

Every sector has its own rhythm and its own things that go wrong most often. We've worked in enough of each to know what to expect before we arrive.

Retail shops — Shopfronts, stockrooms, fitting rooms, and everything customers never see but notice the moment it stops working.

Restaurants & bars — Kitchens, cellars, front-of-house electrics, and the kind of urgent plumbing issue that can't wait until after service.

Offices — Meeting room AV, general electrics, and the maintenance that keeps a workplace running without anyone noticing it's happening.

Public buildings — Compliance-heavy environments where documentation and fully insured contractors aren't optional extras.

How a call-out actually goes

1. You tell us what's happening
Call, email, or send us through your facilities system if you've got one. Tell us what's wrong and how urgent it is, and we'll be straight with you about timing.

2. We confirm scope and price
For anything beyond a straightforward repair, we'll give you a written scope and price before work starts, so there's nothing to query on the invoice afterwards.

3. We get it done and document it
Work's completed, and where it matters for compliance or insurance, you get the paperwork to go with it.

Manchester city centre, and well beyond it

We're based in the city centre, giving quick response times for units around Deansgate, the Northern Quarter, Ancoats, and the wider ring road. Alongside that, we cover Salford, Trafford, Stockport, and a broad stretch of Greater Manchester and Cheshire for scheduled and commercial work. If you manage sites across several of these areas, we're used to running maintenance across all of them under one arrangement.

Questions facilities managers usually ask

Can you handle a full shop fit-out, not just individual repairs?
Yes. Fit-outs are a regular part of the work, from a single unit refresh to a full strip-out and rebuild. We coordinate the trades side directly and work alongside your architect, landlord, or other contractors where needed.

How quickly can you respond to a genuine emergency at a commercial site?
For anything affecting trading, safety, or security, we treat it as a priority call and aim to have someone on site within the hour wherever possible. Non-urgent same-day work is usually confirmed within the same working day.

Are you insured to work in public and commercial buildings?
Yes, fully insured across all the trades we carry out on site, and we can provide documentation for your compliance or insurance records on request.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance contracts rather than one-off call-outs?
Yes, this is how most of our commercial relationships work. We set up a rolling schedule around your building's needs and compliance deadlines, so small issues get caught before they become expensive ones.

Can you manage maintenance across multiple sites for one business?
Yes. A number of our commercial clients have more than one location across Manchester and the surrounding areas, and we run their maintenance under a single point of contact rather than treating each site separately.

Do you only take on large commercial jobs, or smaller ones too?
Both. A single broken light fitting gets the same attention as a full fit-out. Most of our long-term commercial clients started with a small, one-off job.
